Huede Healthtech Selected as a Company in the Ministry of Health and Welfare’s Inaugural “Taiwan 50 Outstanding SMART Apps”

As global smart healthcare evolves from isolated AI applications toward cross-system integration and healthcare information interoperability, “SMART on FHIR” has become a key international standard framework for next-generation smart healthcare. Promoted by the Ministry of Health and Welfare, Taiwan is actively adopting the SMART on FHIR international standard to accelerate the implementation of smart healthcare and medical AI applications, building a patient-centered digital healthcare ecosystem with cross-hospital interoperability.

Amid this trend, Huede Healthtech was selected in the 2026 “Taiwan 50 Outstanding SMART Apps” competition organized by the Ministry of Health and Welfare. Its solution, “Huede Acura AKI AI-Based Acute Kidney Injury Prediction Support Software,” was chosen and invited to participate in the SMART SUMMIT International Forum and Awards Ceremony, making the company one of Taiwan’s key representatives in advancing smart healthcare standardization and clinical AI applications.

In addition, in December 2025, Huede Healthtech was awarded the “Digital Service Capability Registration Certificate” by the Administration for Digital Industries under the Ministry of Digital Affairs. The certification covers AI technology services, AI-assisted diagnostics, and precision medicine applications, demonstrating that the company’s technical capabilities and system integration strengths in clinical AI and digital healthcare services have received official government recognition.

Taiwan 50 Outstanding SMART Apps Highlights Representative Smart Healthcare Innovations

The “Taiwan 50 Outstanding SMART Apps” initiative focuses on representative smart healthcare applications, covering areas such as artificial intelligence (AI), clinical decision support (CDS), healthcare information integration, smart hospitals, and digital health. It is regarded as an important benchmark for Taiwan’s next-generation electronic medical records and smart healthcare ecosystem.

Kidney Care Becomes a Key Healthcare Issue in Taiwan

Taiwan has long been one of the countries with a high prevalence of kidney disease worldwide. Care for chronic kidney disease and acute kidney injury (AKI) continues to be a major policy focus within Taiwan’s National Health Insurance system. According to data from the National Health Insurance Administration and other public healthcare sources, medical expenditures related to kidney diseases, including dialysis, have consistently ranked first among Taiwan’s annual healthcare spending categories, reflecting both the importance of kidney care and its long-term burden on the healthcare system.

In recent years, the National Health Insurance Administration has continued to promote policies such as pre-end-stage renal disease (Pre-ESRD) care programs, AKI care management, and digital healthcare applications. The Acura AKI AI-Based Acute Kidney Injury Prediction Support Software has also become one of the representative SMART applications selected in this initiative.

From Clinical AI to an Integrated AI Service Platform for Smart Healthcare

Lee Hui-Ling, General Manager of Huede Healthtech, believes that the future of smart healthcare lies not only in AI models themselves, but in their deep integration into clinical workflows, healthcare information systems, and frontline care settings—becoming an essential support for medical teams.

The selected Acura AKI is an AI medical software designed for use in intensive care units, primarily providing clinical data analysis and decision support. The system has obtained a Class II medical device license from the Taiwan Food and Drug Administration (TFDA) under the Ministry of Health and Welfare.

In addition to the “Acura AKI Huede AI-Based Acute Kidney Injury Prediction Support Software,” Huede Healthtech’s current product portfolio also includes:

  • Clinical Intelligent Care System (APTS)
  • AI platform for critical care applications
  • AI hand hygiene recognition system

Lee Hui-Ling stated that the company has long upheld the core vision of “empowering healthcare professionals through innovative technology to deliver smarter medical care,” with the mission of “becoming a leading partner in smart innovation for critical care.” The company continues to invest in clinical AI for critical care, smart healthcare solutions, and the integration of healthcare information systems, and is progressively building an AI service platform aligned with international standards.
